چکیده

Abstract In recent years, there has been a surge of interest in modal-based monitoring systems, especially for bridge structures, to detect damage at an early stage and extend the life existing bridges as well minimize maintenance costs. The modal parameters, natural frequencies mode shapes, depend on stiffness mass structure. For economic application system, estimation parameters based Operational Modal Analysis needs be estimated. uses naturally vibration sources, such wind traffic, estimate parameters. A significant advantage is therefore that do not have closed traffic. this context, are influenced by vehicle traffic due associated temporally spatially variable mass, damping properties overall system. paper, influence those operational loads road roughness parameter numerically investigated. vehicles modeled half-vehicle models. addition, shown using situ measurements bridge. high sensitivity can shown, so they reliable identification contrast, shapes exhibit small amplitude scatter operating if excitation frequency range This very unlikely, under variety designs thus broadband excitation.

Bridge Structural Condition Assessment Based on Vibration and Traffic Monitoring

A stochastic model of traffic excitation on bridges is developed assuming that the arrival of vehicles traversing a bridge modeled as an elastic beam follows a Poisson process, and that the contact force of a vehicle on the bridge deck can be converted to equivalent dynamic loads at the nodes of the beam elements. The parameters in this model, such as the Poisson arrival rate and the stochastic...

Vehicle-based Sensor Networks for Traffic Monitoring

The existing vehicle-based sensors of taxi companies in most of cities can be used for traffic monitoring, however sensors are always set with a long sampling interval because of communication cost saving and network congestion avoidance. In this paper, we are interested in understanding what performance for traffic monitoring we might expect from such vehicle-based mobile sensor networks provi...

Damage detection of multi-girder bridge superstructure based on the modal strain approaches

The research described in this paper focuses on the application of modal strain techniques on a multi-girder bridge superstructure with the objectives of identifying the presence of damage and detecting false damage diagnosis for such structures. The case study is a one-third scale model of a slab-on-girder composite bridge superstructure, comprised of a steel-free concrete deck with FRP rebars...

A Reliability Based Simulation, Monitoring and Code Calibration of Vehicle Effects on Existing Bridge Performance

This paper summarizes the recent work by the first author’s research group related to vehicle effects on existing bridges, using reliability based performance assessment. The first part presents a simulation framework of fatigue reliability assessment for existing bridges considering the effects of vehicle speed, road roughness condition, equivalent stress range and the constant amplitude fatig...
